Warning: My buddy's 'just wing it' plan for the old Sunrise Mall versus my 'bring a real flashlight' idea
We checked out the old Sunrise Mall in Fort Worth a couple months back. My friend insisted we could just use our phone lights and wander. I brought a proper 1000 lumen headlamp and a backup. His phone died in the first twenty minutes in the food court, which was pitch black and had a wet floor. I could actually see the old fountain tiles and read the faded signs on the shops. He spent the whole time tripping over stuff and asking me to shine my light his way, which got old fast. The difference was night and day, literally. It turned a frustrating stumble in the dark into a real look at the place. Has anyone else had a trip ruined by someone not bringing basic gear?
