A coworker's help shifted my view on asking for coding advice

I used to try to solve every problem alone to prove I could handle it. After getting stuck for hours, a senior dev showed me a simple fix and explained it clearly, saving me so much time. What made you start seeking help more often?

My third month at my first dev job was the turning point. I realized asking smart questions was a skill, not a weakness. It just makes the whole team better.

So @paul390, what actually makes a question 'smart' though?

Wait, you spent hours stuck on a problem before asking for help? That's a huge amount of wasted time. Getting unstuck quickly is way more important than proving a point.
