Got locked out of my bank account in Chiang Mai because of a VPN
I was trying to pay for a co-working space last Tuesday when my bank flagged the login as suspicious since I was on a server in Singapore. They froze everything for 48 hours while I verified my identity from a Thai SIM card. How do you guys handle banking security when you're hopping countries every few months?

Yeah, that "hopping countries every few months" thing is the real issue. I read a tip about telling your bank your travel dates before you leave.

Ever try using a digital bank made for travelers? I keep a Revolut account just for moving money between countries. Emery603 has the right idea about telling your main bank, but I still got locked out once. Now I keep a small amount in a separate travel friendly account so a freeze doesn't stop everything. Makes life way easier when you're always on the move.

Got locked out of my main account in Lisbon once, trying to buy a train ticket at the station. Had to call them from a payphone, which was a whole thing. I mean, it's not like I was buying a yacht, just a ticket to Porto. Now I always keep a backup card from a different bank stuffed in a sock or something. Just a dumb little habit that saved me again in Berlin last year.
