Adhesive gun clogging in cold spaces is my biggest headache

I was on a garage carpet job last week, and my adhesive gun kept clogging due to the cold. Every few feet, I had to stop and clear the nozzle, which slowed me down a lot. The customer was watching, and I could tell they were annoyed. This isn't the first time this has happened in cold spaces. I've tried keeping the adhesive inside overnight, but it's not always possible. What do other installers do to deal with this? Are there better tools or techniques? I'm tired of wasting time and materials on these calls.

Last weekend, I checked out the old Pine Valley Mall that's been closed for a decade. I crept through the dark halls where stores used to be full of life. In what was left of the food court, I found cracked floors and dusty benches. The silence was so deep, my own breathing sounded loud. That quiet got me thinking about my loud office with phones ringing and people chatting all day. Why do we accept so much noise when we could have calm? Maybe I should look for a job that lets me work from home. Stumbling into that still space made me see how much peace I lack at work.

TIL why slow cooling on boiler welds isn't just a suggestion

Was on a boiler repair last Thursday. The weld needed slow cooling to prevent cracks. Boss pushed to finish early for a deadline. I caved and used fans to cool it fast. Big mistake. The metal contracted unevenly. Now there's visible distortion along the joint. Have to cut it out and start over. Never again.

Unpopular opinion: Knee kickers for halls are a mistake, my local job proved it

I always thought knee kickers were fine for hallway carpet installs. Then, I helped a friend on Oak Avenue fix a botched job where the carpet pulled away from the walls. The original installer used only a knee kicker, and the tension wasn't enough. In my experience, a power stretcher gives that extra pull to keep everything tight. Now, I refuse to do halls without one. It might add time, but it saves headaches later. That fix on my own street changed my whole approach.

Update: Squash vine borers attacked my zucchini, here's how I saved them

My neighbor's zucchini patch got hit first, so I was on high alert. When my plants started drooping, I knew right away it was borers. I didn't have a syringe, so I used a small knife to make a slit and brushed Bt powder inside. It was messy, but it worked. I remember reading online that you have to act fast before they damage the stems too badly. Actually, one plant was too far gone and I lost it, but the others bounced back after a week or so, and now I check the stems every morning for that sawdust-like stuff, just in case.
