My wife thinks my anvil is too loud for our street.

Is it rude to forge at night or just part of the trade?

My buddy had the same issue with his forge... his neighbor called the cops at 10 pm on a Tuesday. Just part of the gig, I guess.

Yeah, and @norahart is right, it's just about not being a jerk. My old neighbor would blast polka music at 7 am on Sundays while pressure washing his driveway. Meanwhile, I'm over here feeling guilty if my garbage can lid clangs too loud at night. I once apologized to a wall for bumping into it. My consideration for others is probably a medical condition.
