Just got back from the Pima Air & Space Museum and their B-52 engine display got me thinking

They had a cutaway of an old TF33 engine from a B-52D on a stand. The placard said it was from the 1960s. Looking at the turbine section, the design is so simple compared to modern high-bypass stuff. One side says keeping these old powerplants flying is a core skill and shows real mechanical grit. The other side says we should be pushing newer tech harder. What's the bigger priority in the hangar these days, mastering the classics or getting ahead on the new systems?

Used to set posts with a sledge and eyeball. Now I use a laser level for every single one. The difference is night and day.

My buddy's fence line had a three inch dip over fifty feet from the old eyeball method. The laser showed it plain as day.

Shoutout to the old school guys who taught me to sharpen by hand, not with a machine

My shop in Dayton runs three Tormek machines and our edges last longer than any hand sharpened blade. Maybe @wendy_murphy16 just had a bad machine?

Maybe you got the wrong kind? The compression ones with zippers you roll down are the only ones that actually save space. The regular ones just add shape and bulk like you said.

Wait, isn't that just called meal planning? Calling it "chaos spending" feels a bit harsh for just trying to get food. Good on you for saving money though, that's the real win. Sometimes a little push to get organized works out.
