A stair landing that opens directly into a linen closet in a Denver rental

Stayed at an Airbnb in Denver last spring and the top of the stairs had a door that swung right into a tiny linen closet. You had to open the door, squeeze in sideways, and hold the towels to close it. The toilet was on the other side of the landing, so anyone using it blocked the whole path. Landlord said it was a 'space-saving feature'. Has anyone else dealt with a door that just makes a room useless?

...and honestly that's not a space-saving feature, it's just bad planning. I've seen this exact thing in older bungalows around here and it always turns into a game of Tetris just to grab a towel. The worst part is they probably charged extra for the "walk-in closet" when it's really just a narrow hallway with shelves. A landing should be a landing, a place to turn around, not a puzzle you have to solve every time you need a washcloth. Whoever signed off on that should have to live there for a month, then they'd get it.

That "game of Tetris" line hit home, we had a closet door that only opened halfway in our last place too.
