Deleted a 6 year old apology post and feel lighter

Three years ago I wrote a long apology to an ex on this forum, all dramatic and full of blame shifting. Last week I went back, read it, and deleted it because it was basically me performing regret instead of owning it. The rewrite I'd want now would be two sentences, no excuses, just 'I was wrong and I'm sorry.' Has anyone else scrubbed an old post that was more about looking good than actually fixing things?

Hold off on feeling too noble about that delete. Leaving it up could've shown people how you actually grew instead of just cleaning house to feel better. Sometimes keeping the ugly version around is the real proof you've changed.
