Spent 6 months searching the wrong side of the river for that hidden cache
Turns out the coordinates in the listing were for the parking lot, and the actual cache was across the bridge on the other bank. A kid on a bike pointed it out to me after watching me stomp through the same bushes for 20 minutes. Anyone else ever trust the pin over the hint and pay for it?

...and that kid probably found more geocaches before breakfast than I've found all year. I once walked past the actual hide three times because I was staring at my phone screen like it was a treasure map and not a magic square. Lesson learned: the little green dot knows nothing, but the suspicious hollow log behind the bench knows everything.

Wait, so the real strategy is just abandoning technology and trusting random rotten wood? That explains why @dakota_fox and I have been playing this game on hard mode for years. I once spent 20 minutes circling a bush because my GPS said "within 10 feet", then a dog ran past and literally knocked the cache out of the tree with its tail. The dog found it faster than my premium membership ever did. Maybe I should just start bribing squirrels to lead me to ammo boxes instead. Or better yet, just bring a kid with me everywhere, since apparently they have built-in geocache radar.
