I finally stopped using the old-school putty knife for glazing compound after a job in Denver last fall.
Switched to a 4-inch flex knife for the whole pane and it cut my time in half, plus the finish is way cleaner. Anyone else make the switch and notice less wrist strain?

You really think a flex knife is that much better? I've tried them and they feel flimsy. For a clean line on a wood sash, a stiff putty knife gives you way more control. I can see what @black.shane means about using your arm more, but that just makes the whole motion feel sloppy to me. You lose the feel for the compound. I went back to my old knife after a week.

Wait, have you tried a flex knife on a really long run? I feel like the flimsy feeling goes away when you're not fighting the tool on a big surface.

Honestly, the part about less wrist strain is huge. I found the flex knife lets you use more of your arm and shoulder, so your hand isn't doing all the work. Tbh, it's a game changer for bigger windows where you're laying down a lot of compound.
