Driving through Arizona, I saw a glassblower working with desert colors

I was on a long haul through the Southwest last month, taking a break at a small town. There was this little studio right off the main road, with a sign saying 'live glassblowing today.' I went in and watched the artist pull molten glass from the furnace. He was mixing in specks of copper to get this RUSTY orange shade, like the canyon rocks outside. It hit me how much his work was tied to the place, using local colors and light. In my job, I see so much landscape, but I never thought to bring it into something I make. Now, back home, I look at my own glass pieces and think about where the inspiration comes from. Has anyone else found their surroundings creeping into their work after a trip?

Forget TRIP ideas, real artists create from their OWN minds.

Must be exhausting to always have to invent everything from scratch.
