Feel for you, that's a tough way to learn. Barter deals can get really complicated fast. Hope you at least got some good pickles out of it.

My cousin in Asheville traded a hand knit scarf for six jars of homemade pickles last year. The guy used way too much dill and the cucumbers were soft. Patricia Rodriguez is right, barter deals get messy when quality isn't clear. You're swapping real work for someone's hobby project. That scarf took twenty hours. I'd rather just buy pickles at the store and know what I'm getting.
