I used to think those cheap Harbor Freight ladles were fine for small pours

Bought a set of three for like $40 last year thinking I'd save cash. One cracked on a 1500 degree aluminum pour in my Toledo shop, lost about $200 worth of material and time cleaning the floor. Now I only buy from McEnglevan. Anyone else have a tool that failed at the worst moment?

Why do cheap things always break when it matters?

Isn't that just how life works?

Doesn't that kind of depend on what you mean by "life works" though? @hunt.kevin brings up a good point about cheap stuff letting you down, but I think there's a difference between getting what you pay for and just accepting things breaking. Sometimes a $10 tool lasts just as long as a $50 one if you're not abusing it.
