That old timer at the camera shop in Austin told me to shoot at box speed and I ignored him for months

After wasting 8 rolls of Portra 400 because I kept overexposing by 2 stops thinking it looked better, I finally tried it his way and now I have to admit his photos actually look way more natural than mine ever did, anyone else stubbornly refuse advice for way too long?

Wait @leo603 did u actually switch after that or keep doing ur own thing? Portra 400 at box speed changed my whole look, those highlights finally stopped blowing out. I wasted like 5 rolls shooting it at 200 because some youtube guy said it gave more saturated colors. Nah, natural tones look way better in the end.

Man I feel that, I wasted a whole summer ignoring the same advice from my local shop guy too.
