My scans keep coming out with a weird pink color cast

I developed my first roll of color film at home last weekend. The negatives look okay to my eye, but when I scan them, everything has a strong pink tint. I'm using a flatbed scanner with the default software settings. Has anyone else run into this and know how to fix the colors?

That pink tint is from the orange layer on the film. Scan it as a slide instead, then fix the colors in your editing program. Default settings on flatbeds are pretty much useless for this.

Feel your pain, those pink scans suck.

Yeah, that orange layer on the film is the whole problem. I read a guide that said exactly what thomas.lucas mentioned, to scan as a positive slide and then invert it yourself. The scanner software tries to do the color fix and just gets it wrong. You have to take control away from the auto settings.
