Why does nobody talk about using a 5-gallon bucket as a laundry basket?
I got tired of my plastic laundry basket cracking after 6 months, so I grabbed a free 5-gallon bucket from work. It holds exactly one load, it's indestructible, and the handle makes hauling it down stairs way easier. Has anyone else ditched their regular basket for a bucket?
@rowenjenkins nailed it. People turn the most basic household tasks into a whole production. Like, you don't need a dedicated hamper when a $5 bucket from the hardware store works just as good. Dump clothes in, carry it to the laundry room, done. Same thing with using a milk crate as a bookshelf or a 2x4 as a doorstop. If it holds up and does the job, why overthink it? Sometimes the simplest fix is the best one.
