I was using a 12-inch level to check for plumb on a 20-foot conduit run in a Denver warehouse and the client's engineer pointed out my error.
He casually asked if I was checking for cumulative error over the length, which made me realize I'd been trusting a short level for long verticals my whole career, so what's your go-to method for ensuring true plumb on tall installations?

Oh man, that engineer just gave you a free master class in one sentence lol. I'd be standing there with my 12-inch level feeling like I just got caught using a toy hammer. Rivershah has the right idea, a laser is the way to go for anything taller than you are. Otherwise you're basically just hoping for the best, and that's a bad plan when stuff needs to be straight.
