Finally landed a tricky 3-way switch repair in 20 minutes flat

Old house had a 3-way setup that was acting like a dead end with no travelers pulling through. Turned out a previous guy had mixed up the common wire on one end, swapped it back and it worked first try. Anyone else run into mystery wiring from someone who clearly just guessed?
