Shoutout to the guy at the LRT station who gave me directions to the Legislature grounds last Tuesday
I was about to take the wrong bus from Corona Station when this older fella pointed me to the right route, saving me a 40 minute detour, has anyone else actually had good luck asking strangers for help downtown?

You ever notice how the people who look the most grumpy are usually the ones who give the best directions? I swear, the guy with the permanent scowl is the one who knows exactly which bus goes where and when. It's like they've been waiting their whole life for someone to ask them something useful. I got lost near Churchill Square once and this lady with a face like she just bit into a lemon walked me three blocks out of her way to make sure I found the right doors. Strangers are weird like that, most of them are decent when you actually need something.

Man, that lemon face lady sounds like a real one. I had something similar happen years ago when I was trying to find a specific record shop in this weird part of town. This old dude with a face like a bulldog chewing a wasp just grunted at me, then pointed down an alley and said "third door on the left, not the second, the third, the second one's a trap." I still don't know what that meant but I found the shop. Maybe it's just me but grumpy people seem to have a whole different level of focus when they decide to help, like they've been saving up all that crankiness for this one moment to prove they're useful. And yeah, strangers are weird, but mostly in a good way. A lot of people just want a reason to be helpful, even if their face doesn't show it.
