Hit 500 posts on the Edmonton chat board and it made me think
I logged in yesterday and saw the number right there by my name. It's just a forum, but it felt like a real thing. I've been reading and posting here since I moved to the city three years ago. That's a lot of local talk about roads, restaurants, and the Oilers. Anyone else get a weird sense of place from a simple number like that?

Yeah, it's the small stuff that ties you to a place. You don't notice it building up until you see a number like that, and then you realize how much of your daily life is in those posts. It's a record of your time here, more real than a calendar. That count is basically a history of all the little things you've cared about since you got here.

Wait, 14,000 posts? That's almost 10 a day for four years. Man, that puts my little corner of the internet into perspective.
