My neighbor Frank said to use a sock for cleaning blinds
I was bitching about washing window blinds at my backyard grill last month. Frank, the retired guy two houses down, told me to just put an old sock over my hand and dip it in vinegar water. I laughed it off as some grandpa trick. But I finally tried it yesterday after my wife bought new blinds for the living room. It actually worked perfectly, took me 20 minutes for two big windows. Has anyone else discovered weird random hacks from neighbors?

Oh man, that's actually brilliant! I've been using paper towels and spray and it takes forever, plus the fuzz gets stuck everywhere. Did you use a thick sock or one of those thin dress socks? I feel like the thin ones might not soak up enough vinegar water, but the thick ones could be too bulky to get between the slats. I might have to try this with an old tube sock I've got laying around.

I mean, that thin dress sock thing is exactly what tripped me up at first too. I tried an old ankle sock and it just wasn't cutting it between the slats. But yeah, a thicker tube sock works way better because it holds enough liquid without dripping everywhere. I actually cut the toe off one of my ratty gym socks so I could slide it on and off easier while swapping hands. Also, don't soak it too much or you'll be wiping drips off the windowsill for an hour. Just damp enough to wipe the dust and grime off is the sweet spot.
