Found a 1970s DIY repair manual at a library sale that beat YouTube tutorials
I picked up a Reader's Digest Fix-It-Yourself Manual for 50 cents last spring, thinking it would be a joke compared to modern videos. But when my washing machine drum locked up, the written diagrams and step-by-step photos actually explained the tension spring setup way clearer than any 10-minute video I found. Has anyone else had an old reference book outperform current online guides?

Videos skip too many small steps. Those old manuals had to spell everything out because you couldn't pause and rewind. I've fixed three things this year using '70s books and zero YouTube.
