Finally gave in and tried the self-taping mesh stuff after 30 years of using paper tape for everything
My nephew brought a roll to a job last spring and after watching him fix a ceiling crack in about 2 minutes I had to admit it actually holds up better than paper in my humid basements, what's everyone using for corner bead these days?

Paper tape's still better for drywall corners though.

My basement shop sits at 60% humidity year round and paper tape always blistered on me within two years no matter how careful I was. The mesh stuff has been solid for four years now in the same spots, no peeling at all. But you mentioned corners - are you using paper tape on your interior corners because you think it actually bonds better there, or is that just what your old boss taught you and you never tried anything else? I ask because I used paper on corners out of habit for a long time before switching, and the mesh actually handled the stress cracks better for me. Curious what your real reason is.
