Spent $800 on a fancy drafting tablet and I'm not convinced it's better than my old setup.

Everyone in the office said I needed the latest pressure-sensitive screen to be more efficient, but after three months I still draw faster with my basic mouse and keyboard shortcuts. The learning curve just killed my speed on a big set of commercial plans last week, and now I'm back to my old method. Has anyone else gone back to simpler tools after trying the 'upgrade'?

Read an article about how some architects swear by their old school drafting machines. Said the new tech can make you focus on the tool instead of the design.

Did that article mention how some of the old machines had that satisfying mechanical action when you moved the arms around? I heard a talk where an architect said drafting software actually slows you down early in the design phase because you're fighting the interface. There's something to be said for tools that get out of your way completely.

Tried a fancy laser level, went back to my trusty chalk line.
