Sealed my basement crawlspace 8 months ago, the air quality difference is wild

I finally got around to sealing up my crawlspace in March, used a 20 mil vapor barrier and taped all the seams. Before that, the basement always felt damp and musty, and my wife complained about allergies down there. After 8 months with a dehumidifier running, the air reads 45% humidity instead of the 70% it used to sit at. Has anyone else noticed a big change after doing this kind of work, or am I just imagining things?

Absolutely noticed the same thing here. I sealed my crawlspace about a year ago and the difference in the whole house air was huge. Before that, the humidity would just sit there making everything feel heavy and damp. Now the basement actually feels like a normal room, not a cave. My allergies cleared up too, or at least they don't act up when I go down there for laundry. That 45% number you're seeing is solid, keeping it under 50% is the real win. You're not imagining things, it's just one of those projects that actually works way better than you expect.

Has anyone told you that you sound like a real professional, @evaperez? Because that's exactly how I feel now compared to my old damp mess of a crawlspace, but I'm pretty sure my vapor barrier tape job looks like a six year old did it.
