My laptop almost died in a hostel in Chiang Mai and it changed my whole backup plan
I was in a shared dorm in Chiang Mai last month. My laptop just shut down. No warning. It was a cheap hostel with bad power. I had all my client files on it. No cloud backup. I had to find a repair shop in the Old City. The guy said the power surge fried something. Cost me $120 and two days of work. I sat in a cafe and could not do anything. Now I use two cloud services. I also carry a small power surge protector. Has anyone else had a close call like that? What do you do to keep your work safe on the road?

That part about having all your client files with no backup made my stomach drop. I can't even imagine the panic of sitting in a cafe for two days just stuck. Your new setup with two cloud services is smart, it's like a belt and suspenders. I keep a tiny portable hard drive in my bag as a physical backup, just in case the internet is bad somewhere. The power surge protector is a great tip too, those sketchy outlets are everywhere.
