Talking to a kid at a gallery show made me flip on AI art
Had a conversation with a high schooler at a local gallery in Portland last Saturday. She said AI art feels like cheating because you skip the struggle of learning anatomy and color theory. It hit different because she was right - the process matters as much as the final piece. Anyone else change their stance after talking to someone younger?

Devil's advocate here. The whole 'struggle builds character' argument kind of falls apart when you look at how every other creative tool evolved from something harder. Nobody tells photographers they're cheating because they skipped learning how to mix their own chemicals in a darkroom. The kid's point about anatomy and color theory is valid, but those are just means to an end - the end being communication through images. If AI lets someone bypass the 10 year slog to get their visual ideas out there, that's just progress catching up with intent.
