Had to choose between a 12-valve Cummins rebuild or a new crate motor for a '94 F-350. Went with the rebuild and it's been a year now.

Honestly can't imagine this being a life or death choice. It's just a truck motor, not a heart transplant. Rebuilds work fine if you know a good shop, and crate motors have their own headaches sometimes. A year in and it's running, so the whole debate seems overblown now.

Seriously though, why do people treat this like picking a surgeon? It's nuts! A rebuild from a trusted mechanic gets you a known block with fresh parts. Crate motors can have weird sensor issues or need extra parts they don't tell you about. Either way, the truck moves.

Wait, @patricia_rodriguez, what headaches did you see with crate motors?
