Hot take: dead malls are better off as community centers than trying to reopen as retail
I hit up the old Franklin Park Mall yesterday and saw they turned half the food court into a library and gym, which honestly had more people than I ever saw in there the last 5 years it was open. Are we better off just letting these spaces become something else, or is there still a chance to bring back the retail vibe if someone tried hard enough?

Went to a dead mall turned community center last month and somehow ended up in a Zumba class surrounded by seniors who could outdance me by a mile. My knees still hurt and I'm not even thirty yet, so clearly my retail glory days are over. Dead malls becoming libraries and gyms is the only way I'll ever get exercise or read a book without crying.

Honestly the seniors part is the kicker. Those folks are on a different level, they've been doing this since before it was cool.
