5 years I quoted the 'be yourself' line from The Birdcage wrong

I always said 'I'm a simple man with simple needs' but last week I found a clip and realized it's 'I'm a simple man with simple tastes' and that tiny change makes the whole scene hit different. Has anyone else had a quote stuck in their head wrong for years?

Oh man, I feel you so hard on this. It's like when you finally hear the right words and the whole meaning shifts under your feet. I had the same thing happen with a line from The Big Lebowski - for years I thought The Dude said "that's just your opinion, man" but it's actually "yeah, well, that's just like your opinion, man." That one little extra word changes the whole vibe from dismissive to almost playful. It's wild how our brains just fill in the gaps and we never think to question it. You probably heard it that way once when you were half-paying attention and it just stuck. Kinda makes you wonder how many other things we've got slightly wrong without even knowing it.

Got that wrong quote thing happen to me with a line from The Princess Bride. I always thought Inigo said "Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die" but turns out it's "prepare" with a slight pause before it, not just a flat statement. Found that out when my buddy showed me the scene at 3 AM and I felt like an idiot for saying it wrong for like a decade. It's funny how one misplaced word or a beat of silence can throw off the whole rhythm of a line you've been carrying around in your head.
