PSA: That 'free' USB drive I found in the parking lot at my office in Austin
Found a USB drive near the bus stop last week. Plugged it into my work laptop to see whose it was and it instantly launched a script. IT had to wipe my whole machine and I lost a week of spreadsheets. Has anyone else dealt with random drives or devices showing up at your workplace?

Lost a week of spreadsheets" - that's rough, but honestly you got off lucky. The real angle here is that a lot of these drops aren't random. Bad actors will leave them in spots where they know office workers park or wait for buses. They're banking on someone being curious and plugging it in. Next time just toss it or turn it into security without touching a computer. Your IT team probably already told you this, but never plug unknown stuff into anything that has company data.
