Invested $60 in a fancy espresso machine cleaning kit, total waste
I bought this ultrasonic cleaning kit for my espresso machine's group head, thinking it would save me from paying a repair shop $150 for a deep clean. After 3 cycles of scrubbing and soaking, the scale buildup barely budged and I still had to take the whole thing apart by hand. Has anyone else fallen for these specialized cleaning gadgets that just don't deliver?

You mentioned the scale buildup barely budged, and that's exactly what happened to me too. I spent like 50 bucks on this fancy descaling solution and brush set, and after three rounds of scrubbing, my machine still shot out coffee that tasted like rusty pipes. Ended up taking the whole group head off and scraping it with a toothpick, which was way more work than I expected. These kits feel like they're designed for people who have never actually dealt with hard water stains before.

I actually live in a place with water so hard it leaves crust on my ice cubes, and those descaling kits have worked fine for me. I use the Dezcal powder once a month and never had to scrape anything with a toothpick. Maybe its just the type of machine you have.
