Trying to solder a board at 2 AM and the smoke came out
I was in my garage last winter trying to finish a 60% build. I accidentally bridged two pins on the microcontroller with my iron. The board let out a little puff of smoke and my heart just sank. I grabbed my desoldering pump and some flux, held my breath, and managed to clean it up. Has anyone else brought a board back from a mistake like that?

Oof, that's the worst sound. Did the board still work after you cleaned it up?

Mine was fine after a good scrub with isopropyl alcohol.

Wait, did you have to take anything apart to get to it?

Yeah, that sound makes my soul leave my body for a second... glad it wasn't a total loss for you, @evac82. I've definitely cleaned up spills that ended way worse.
