My desoldering pump broke mid-build on a 60% board yesterday
I was about 30 minutes into fixing a bad solder joint on my DZ60 build when the rubber tip on my Engineer SS-02 just split in half. Had to run to Micro Center in Portland to grab a different pump, which is like a 40 minute drive. The new one works fine but it's bulkier and doesnt fit in my tool drawer. Anyone else have a desoldering pump fail at the worst possible time?

Oh man, that really stinks. I heard from a keyboard builder on another forum that keeping a spare tip on hand is a good idea since those rubber ones wear out fast. Your mileage may vary, but I grabbed a second SS-02 tip set from Amazon just in case after reading that.

Wait, the tip split in HALF? Like clean in two pieces? That's wild, I thought those SS-02 tips were supposed to last forever. How long did you even have it before it gave out?
