A guy at the meetup in Austin said something about keycaps that stuck with me
He was showing off his build, and when I asked about the keycaps, he just said, 'I don't buy sets anymore, I just hunt for the one perfect key for each spot.' He had a board full of mismatched caps, each one he really liked. It happened last month, and I've been thinking about it ever since. Has anyone else tried building a board like that, one key at a time?

That's such a cool way to look at it! I used to be all about matching sets, but hearing about his method totally flipped a switch for me. Now I'm slowly picking out single caps that just feel right, like this awesome textured escape key I found. It makes the board feel way more personal.

Wait, you used to only buy full matching sets? I can't even imagine that. My board has been a weird mix of leftovers and singles since day one. The idea of a perfectly uniform keyboard feels so strange to me now.
