Changed my mind about using anti-two block after a close call last Thursday

Tbh, I used to think anti-two block systems were just extra junk to maintain. Last week on a job site in Akron, I was booming up near some power lines and the alarm went off. I stopped, checked, and I was only 3 feet from hitting a 13kV line. Ngl, that changed my mind real quick. Has anyone else had a near miss that made you rethink something you thought was unnecessary?

Man, that's the kind of wake-up call that sticks with you. I had something similar a few years back on a residential job - we were extending the boom near some old overhead service lines, and our spotter missed them. The anti-two block beeped, I stopped, and we had maybe 2 feet of clearance. Now I tell every new guy on my crew: never override or bypass that system, no matter how much of a hurry you're in. It's cheap insurance compared to what could happen.
