That old Dell from 2007 finally gave up the ghost today

A customer brought in their ancient Optiplex saying it was slow, and I told them to just replace it for $200. Turns out the PSU was dying and took the board with it, so they'll need a new system anyway. Has anyone else had a gut feeling about a fix turn out to be right?

Had that exact feeling last week with a guy's HP from 2010. Told him the power supply was toast before even opening it up. The capacitor bulge on the board told the whole story. Gut feelings come from seeing the same failures over and over. That old Dell era was famous for bad caps on the motherboard. He'll save money in the long run just getting a new one.

Three things you can ALWAYS spot from across the room. Bulging caps dust bunnies and a cheap power supply. Saved someone a lot of headache by calling that right away.
