Spent 3 days trying to clear a fouled prop on a tug in Seattle, only to find the main issue was a shredded crab pot line wrapped around the shaft seal housing.
What's your go-to method for cutting that heavy, waterlogged poly line when you can't get a clean angle with regular shears?

That "shredded crab pot line" is the worst, it turns into a solid mass. When my regular cable cutters can't bite, I've had luck with a serrated bread knife from the galley. You can really saw at it from weird angles, and the wet line doesn't slip as much. It's slow going but sometimes it's the only thing that fits in there.

Mia's bread knife trick is a perfect example of how the right tool is never the one you're supposed to use. It's like using a butter knife to tighten a screw or a credit card to jimmy a lock. Real problem solving happens when you ditch the manual and just grab whatever weird thing gets the job done. The world runs on duct tape and workarounds.
