My six year old asked me what I do at work today
Honestly, I was trying to explain a basic hull cleaning job in Seattle harbor. He just looked at me and said, 'So you're a fish car washer?' Ngl, it hit different hearing it put that way. Kind of makes the whole thing sound way more fun than it sometimes is. Anyone else have a kid give them a funny new name for the job?

Fish car washer" is perfect. Kids have this way of cutting through all the complicated stuff we build up around our jobs. My friend is a data analyst and his daughter calls him a "number detective." It strips away the boring meetings and stress and gets right to the simple action of it. They find the core idea we sometimes forget.

Totally! My nephew once asked what I do all day and I said "project manager." He just stared, so I tried "I help teams build things." His eyes lit up and he said "Oh, you're a team helper!" It was such a better way to put it. It cut right through all the planning and emails to the actual point of the job. That simple name actually stuck with me and helps on rough days.
