My entire Tuesday felt like a broken record, literally.

Last week, I went to a gas station in Tulsa and bought a specific brand of gum. The next day, I went to a different store and saw the exact same gum, with the same torn corner on the wrapper, in the same spot on the shelf. I checked my pocket and my piece from the day before was still there. It felt like the world reset and placed the same object twice. Has anyone else found a duplicate item they know they already took?

Can we talk about how my writing group's prompt game changed in just 2 months?

We used to get the same old 'write about a haunted house' stuff every week, it got boring. Then one person brought in a prompt from a site called Reedsy, about a character who finds their own obituary online. Everyone wrote way more interesting stories that night. Now we pull from three different prompt websites before each meetup, and the ideas are so much better. What's the coolest writing prompt you've found online lately?

TIL a lesson about old coolant hoses the hard way on a 2007 Civic

I had a customer come in with a slow drip from the lower radiator hose. It looked fine from the outside, no cracks or bulges. I gave it a squeeze and it felt firm, so I told him it was probably the clamp and sent him on his way. Two days later, he was back on a tow truck with the hose blown clean off and the engine overheated. When I cut the old hose open, the inside was completely rotten and flaky, like wet cardboard. The outside rubber was just a shell holding it together. The car had 140,000 miles and the coolant had never been flushed, which I found out later. Now I make a point to feel inside the hose end with a pick on any car over ten years old. Has anyone else been fooled by a hose that looked and felt solid but was rotten inside?

My phone's battery was draining crazy fast after the last update

I was losing like 40% charge before lunch, which never happened before. I went into the battery settings and saw 'Google Play Services' was using a huge chunk of power. On a whim, I cleared its cache and data, then restarted. The drain stopped almost completely the next day. Has anyone else fixed a weird battery hog this way?

Watching a guy in Portland strip a table with a heat gun changed my whole process

I was at a small workshop in Portland last fall, just watching other people work. This older guy was taking the old finish off a big oak table. He had a regular heat gun, not one of those fancy infrared ones. He kept it moving in slow circles about six inches from the surface, and the varnish just bubbled up and scraped off like butter. I'd always used chemical stripper and it was such a messy, slow fight. He saw me staring and just said, 'Less fumes, more control.' I went home and tried it on a dresser the next week and cut my stripping time in half. Has anyone else switched from chemicals to mostly heat for removal?

Hot take: I spent three hours last night trying to get a simple loop to work

My code kept printing the same number over and over, and I finally saw I typed 'i = 0' inside the loop instead of 'i += 1'. Has anyone else had a bug that took way too long to spot?
