I know everyone swears by the double dump valve for salvage, but last week in Mobile Bay changed my mind.
We were on a 60-foot barge recovery, and my partner's double dump valve bag got a small tear on a sharp edge. The whole lift went unstable in about 30 seconds because it was dumping air from two points. My old single dump bag, which I still had as a backup, got the job done with way more control. Has anyone else had a close call that made you go back to simpler gear?

Yeah, that balloon comparison is spot on. More failure points just means more ways for a simple job to get wild fast. I'm sticking with my single dump after hearing that.

Honestly, I've been burned by the fancy stuff too. That balloon analogy hits home because I once watched a guy's whole setup deflate in like 10 seconds just because a tiny O-ring got a little dry. Had to rig a tarp over everything while he scrambled for the old dump valve. If you're doing this solo, keep it simple. A single dump with a good solid handle is way less likely to surprise you than any multi-valve contraption. Tbh, I'd rather have one reliable fail-safe than three things that could all fail at once. Stick with what you know works and save the fancy gear for when you've got a buddy watching your back.

Unstable in about 30 seconds" sounds like my last attempt to assemble a swing set. So the fancy valve basically turned your lift into a party balloon you let go of? Guess sometimes the old backup is the one that doesn't try to show off.
