That time a museum curator told me I was cleaning artifacts wrong for 2 years

Wait, isn't distilled water actually safer for that?

Paid $80 for a 'professional' anvil stand kit, ended up using a stump from my backyard

Tbh, @dakota_fox, I gotta push back a little here. Is a wobble really that big of a deal for most people? I mean, if you're just doing basic blacksmithing or occasional repairs, a little shake isn't gonna ruin your day. Stumps can crack and rot over time too, so it's not like they're forever perfect. I've seen plenty of folks use a wobbly stand for years and still nail their work. Feels like the hype around stumps is mostly for the hardcore hobbyists who make it their whole personality. If it works for you, cool, but I'd rather spend my time hammering than hauling a log out of my yard.

Heard a climate scientist on a podcast and it flipped my view on nuclear power

Wait, meltdown-proof reactors exist now? That's wild, I always assumed there was no way around that risk.

That time a sous chef swore by wet aging everything for 3 weeks straight

Didn't your friend swear by that and then give up after two weeks?

Finally ditched my yearly planner for a simple daily log three months ago

Is it weird that the less I plan, the more I actually do? @sage_rodriguez you hit on something big about the brain and small commitments. I think all those fancy planners just make us feel productive without actually being productive, like the act of organizing becomes a substitute for doing the work. My brain honestly rebels if I try to schedule every hour of the day, but giving myself just a handful of tasks feels manageable and I actually finish them. It's like the freedom to choose what matters most each day beats being locked into a rigid plan that never accounts for real life.
