I finally figured out my umbilical routing was costing me air
I was on a bridge inspection job in Mobile, Alabama, and my tender pointed out I was burning through a tank 20 minutes faster than my partner. He watched me and said, 'You're fighting that hose like a snake.' I'd been letting it drag across the structure, creating constant drag. Anyone else have a simple fix that saved you big on air?

Twenty minutes is a huge difference. Are you sure your partner's gear and workload were exactly the same? Seems like a lot to lose just from hose drag.

But hose drag is no joke. Seen it myself on a long attack line up three flights. Felt like pulling a truck by the end. Add in a charged line and different gloves, that's a real workout. Twenty minutes sounds about right when you're fighting the gear all day.
