Blew $150 on a fancy drysuit zipper wax that did NOTHING

I bought this expensive 'zipper magic' stick from a dive show last month. Thought it would fix my slightly stiff zipper for good. After three dives in the Sound the thing was back to grinding and even started leaking a little. Turns out a bar of soap from the grocery store works just as well and costs like a buck. Anyone else get suckered into overpriced zipper stuff or have a simple fix that actually lasts?

Funny how that works, isn't it? It's like with so many "specialty" products out there where the fancy version is just the same stuff with a higher price tag. You see this everywhere (not just dive gear but with computer cleaning wipes and printer stuff at work, too). There's just something about a cool booth at a dive show that makes you think you need their magic stick.

Give it a rest, you two. It's just a dive show, not some big conspiracy. @elliotw37 probably got a deal on a magic stick that works fine for him, who cares if it's overpriced.

Magic stick" is spot on, haha. I swear half the stuff at those shows is just repackaged hardware store items with a dive logo slapped on. Maybe it's just me, but I've learned to walk right past the flashy booths now.
