I bought a $300 home compost tumbler that fell apart in 6 months

Last spring I decided to start composting at home to cut down on food waste. I found a popular brand of compost tumbler online and spent $300 on it thinking it would last years. By month four the plastic latch cracked, and by month six the whole barrel was warped from the sun. Turns out I could have built a simple wire bin for around $30 that works just as well or better. Has anyone else had trouble with those pricey composters not holding up?

Those expensive tumblers are a total scam. The plastic can't handle any real sun or weather. I built a simple wire bin for like 25 bucks and it's been going strong for two years with zero issues.

Right? My neighbor bought one of those fancy spinning ones and it literally cracked in half after one winter. Now it's just an expensive plastic bowl sitting in his yard. Meanwhile my pallet bin smells like a dumpster fire in July but it's held up through three hurricanes and a biblical plague of roaches. But hey, at least the tumbler has a cool handle you can twist while pretending you're a wizard composting wizard.🤣
