Dropped $400 on a home energy audit and the results were a gut punch

The guy came out, did the blower door test, and showed me all the drafts I never knew about. My heating bill is high because my house leaks like a sieve, and fixing it will cost thousands I don't have right now. Has anyone found a good way to tackle these big fixes in smaller, cheaper steps?

Absolutely start with the weather stripping, that's a huge win. We did the same and then just went after the low hanging fruit every paycheck. Caulking around window frames made a real difference for like ten bucks a tube. It adds up over time and makes the place feel less drafty while you save for the bigger stuff.

Honestly, that blower door test is a real eye opener. We did one and just started with the cheapest stuff first, like putting new weather stripping on the back door ourselves. It's not a magic fix, but it did make a noticeable difference for maybe thirty bucks and an afternoon.
