TIL I was cleaning my chimney wrong for 10 years
I always scrubbed top to bottom because that's how my dad taught me. Last month a customer pointed out I was just pushing soot back into the flue instead of removing it. Has anyone else had a moment where a client showed you a better way to do something you thought you had down?

Crazy how the people paying us often spot the blind spots we miss every day.

Do you think it's because they're not in the weeds every day, or because they've just got a different perspective on what the actual goal is? Like, I've had bosses who'd walk by and instantly see something we'd been staring at for three hours. But then sometimes they'd suggest something that would totally break the workflow for the customer, you know what I mean?
