Am I the only one who feared undercooked eggs for decades?

A trip to Japan where I ate raw egg on rice without issue made me relax my rules.

Ever since I got food poisoning in Japan, I'm careful with raw egg.

Notice how one bad experience can completely change how you handle simple things. It's like your brain sticks a warning label on anything related from then on. Makes you second guess stuff you used to do without a thought.

Think about how a bad fall makes you nervous on even stable ground. Your brain does not just remember the pain, it tries to protect you by making you cautious. That caution can spread to things that only seem related, like avoiding all heights after one slip. Over time, these little warnings build up and shape how you move through the world. It is a survival trick, but it can also limit you if you let it run unchecked.
