The laser pointer rule I made up changed my cat's whole routine
Last Tuesday I decided to try something weird with my cat Miso. She goes nuts for the laser but then gets all frustrated when it disappears, so I started leaving the dot on a treat mat for her to pounce on and actually catch. I read online that some cats need that physical payoff or they get anxious, and honestly I thought it was overthinking it. But after three days of doing this, she stopped yowling at the cabinet where I keep the laser. She also seems calmer at night instead of doing that sprinting-at-3am thing. Her routine shifted from chasing me around to waiting by the mat when I pick up the pointer. Has anyone else tried the fake catch trick, or do your cats handle the disappearing dot fine? I'm curious if this is just a Miso thing or if it's a common fix.
