Serious question, why does everyone think a cat slowly blinking at you is just being sleepy?
After watching my cat, Mochi, do it for a year, I realized those slow blinks are actually a sign of trust and affection, which I confirmed when my vet in Denver said it's called a 'cat kiss'.

My old cat Mittens did that for years and I just thought she was tired. Then I read an article about cat body language and it totally changed my view. It really is their way of saying they feel safe with you.

My cat Whiskers does the slow blink thing every night when I get into bed. It took me a while to learn that signal too, @williams.betty. It's such a quiet way for them to show trust, and it makes me feel really special that he chooses to do it.

That slow blink thing is just the best. My cat does it when I'm reading on the couch, just this long, sleepy look. It feels like a secret handshake only you two get. Makes all the weird cat behavior totally worth it.
